BHS TRAINING WEEKEND - SEPTEMBER 8TH 2006

Thanks to Katy Rudd for this report.

This was held at Burchetts Green College. I went for the weekend with my horse and we both
had a great time. The horses were stabled and owners were able to camp, rent a room or travel daily to the college. There were 9 of us, with different levels of experience, which were all catered for. There were 2 flat work sessions, an optional jumping session at different heights, a cross country lesson over the lovely course there or a hack to a pub as an alternative! The instructor was excellent and able to get the best out of each horse (and rider). There was also a talk on confidence and motivation with regard to overcoming fear or doing your best at shows and a practical talk, with demonstrations of clipping and plaiting, on preparing your horse for shows. Having a hairy grey horse I picked up a lot of useful tips. The food was plentiful, I put on weight! The company was good as was the weather. This is the second of these training events I have been to and have thoroughly enjoyed both. The next is
planned for May 11th - 13th 2007. I hope to be there and would recommend it.
